I touched on this a bit in the Summer League Rewind write-up, but as things stand, there is likely only one roster spot open given the guaranteed contracts on the books.  That spot is likely going to a training camp invite and I suspect that list to include the following names, all of which would be likely given a fair chance for the last spot:

Robbie Hummel, Othyus Jeffers, Demetri McCamey, Brandon Paul, Lorenzo Brown, and/or Kee Kee Clark.

Who do you want to see on the roster from the names above?  That is essentially my order of preference above.

But what if Flip and company got a little creative?  Here's the roster again:

  1. Ricky Rubio – PG
  2. JJ Barea – PG
  3. Alexey Shved – PG/SG
  4. Kevin Martin – SG
  5. Corey Brewer – SG/SF
  6. Shabazz Muhammad – SG/SF
  7. Chase Budinger – SF
  8. Dante Cunningham – SF/PF
  9. Kevin Love – PF
  10. Derrick Williams – PF
  11. Nikola Pekovic – C
  12. Ronnie Turiaf – C
  13. Chris Johnson – C
  14. Gorgui Dieng – C
  15. ???

The move that still has some legs to it is a package of DWill and Barea for a solid, maybe overpaid wing.  Right?  Maybe DWill and Shved?  DWill and JJ are about $9.8 million in salary, meaning we could take back up to about ~$12 million if Taylor wanted to flirt with paying some tax.  DWill and Shved combine for about $8.3 million.  Player that constantly comes into mind in this range is Nic Batum.  I know, I know …

What names might you want to see in that area/range?  I can't imagine a scenario where free agency is a viable option for the remainder of the offseason.
